2016 FTC Worlds Judging Video

We wanted to share our 2016 FIRST FTC Worlds Judging Video with everyone. We hope this is useful for other rookie teams as they begin to prepare for the next season.

Targeted at: Beginner/Rookie

Strategies for Judging

Some of the strategies that we use are:

  • Start with the Team Goals and fill in the story
  • A strong opening – we used the robot to pop out
  • Clearly identify award categories we are going to talk about
  • Use a live robot and show its capability
  • Explain iterative effort – show versions of prototypes or designs
  • Showcase key learning’s, changes in design strategy
  • Most importantly, clearly highlight the Impact of Outreach

Let us know what you think.

Hi, I am from team 6567 Red Hook RoboRaiders, and we are preparing for our first trip to Worlds in St Louis. We were wondering if we need a video in addition/instead of a judges’ interview? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! – Alex Snyder

Alex – Video for judging and pits are optional. We use a video to help us with our judging presentation, but it’s not required. In the Pit, we usually have a video running showcasing our outreach events from the past year and also our robot features.
